The president has created a task force, to be headed by Alejandro Mayorkas. He’s been tasked with reuniting hundreds of children separated from their families at the border as part of Trump’s zero-tolerance border policy.

Who is Alejandro Mayorkas?
Alejandro is an American Lawyer that was born in Havana, Cuba. He emigrated to the US with his parents as a baby. Peleo for refugees and dreamers while he was the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
His coworkers say Mayorka possesses: Tough, Persuasive, Hard-Working, and is Personally invested in issues and owning solutions to our current challenges…..sound familiar?

He’s dropping the mic as he became the first latino and immigrant to head the U.S. Department of Homeland Security – which is made up of 240,000 employees across border patrol agents to cybersecurity analysts.
How will reuniting the families happen?
Officials will offer families the opportunity to reunite in the US or in their home country, depending on the law. Biden has tasked them to come up with a concrete action plan in the next couple of months.
What’s next?
There’s an order expected soon that will aim to address the root cause of migration in Central America. The goal is to reform the asylum system to make it more effective. Biden is currently giving officials time to come up with the proposal.
You may remember……
Under Trump, asylum seekers were sent to Mexican border cities to wait, although applicants are still being denied entry while the new Biden administration reviews how to best undo those policies.

The executive order reinstitute the Obama-era directions to facilitate immigrants’ integration into US communities. Slowly, but steady – we’re seeing it done – making the American dream possible for all!
